A good pack.

This is a good pack, dont let anyone tell you different. However, if your going to use this as a butt/fanny pack, there are some things you need to understand. First, this pack is not equipped with molle straps, so you will need Alice Clips to attach this back to your belt, at least four will be needed. Second, you must use either the Y or H Alice suspension harness, or you will not be able to load this bag to anywhere near its capacity. But, when used in conjunction with a good web belt and the proper harness, this is a great pack, big enough to carry enough supplies for a good long day hike, and if its still not big enough, it is molle compatible so you can add even more bags.
This bag can also be used as a shoulder bag, or said bag can be used on a motorcycle, horse, or even a bicycle. So just remember, use a little common sense and this bag will serve you well.

The ultimate Butt pack?

Make no mistake about it this is a buttpack, this is not a day-pack, assault-pack or other form of BACK pack, it is indeed a butt pack! A buttpack's prime purpose is _not_ for mission essential equipment. For mission-essential-purposes there exists a goodly variety of munitions pouches and special-purpose pouches to add to the duty belt and-or load bearing platforms.
Match the Need.
The buttpack is for soldier personal support equipment and is not made to replace a back pack. Large bulky items and items of a personal nature such as toiletries, ponchos, a change of undergarments and socks, etc are where the buttpack shine. If one wishes to cary weights greater than 10-12 pounds comfortably, use a back pack.
Difficulty of Attachement?
I connect my suspender's rear clips to the 'D' rings of the buttpack and connect the buttpack to the pistol belt. With the suspender's front clips attached to the front side of the belt I then have a stable and quickly jettisonable system. For attachement to a LBV I use 1 inch MOLLE web straps threaded through the buttpacks D-rings and the rear webbing of the vest.
Superb Versatility.
I have found that this particular buttpack has a wider variety of uses primarily because of the MOLLE webbing found on its front, sides and back. Unlike the fixed-compartment types of buttpacks, I find this one is eminantly customizable. To the sides I place a weapons-cleaning kit and first-aid pouch. If MREs are needed I add a utilty pouch or two at the front of the buttpack to hold them. If all that is needed are a few canteens and personal items I use only the buttpack, belt and suspenders - as the built-in side-pouches will each hold a canteen.
Emanent Personal Adaptability.
For an overnight bag this is tops! A change of clothing and personal toiletries fit in it well and it remains as a compact and in-obstrusive unit. For those days at the shooting range this bag holds sufficient ammo, cleaning supplies and a small spotting-scope, etc. With the MOLLE webbing straps, mentioned above, I can tie it on to a motorcycle, behind the saddle of a horse, etc.
In short this buttpack is must have and a Can DO!

Poorly designed butt pack

Very excited to try this out, as a redisigned buttpack has been needed for a while. Unfortunately this thing is an ergonomic nightmare. It is too tall and deep to work well with LBE systems. There is no good way to fasten the very top of the pack to your suspenders, and the pack is so deep that if you pack it anywhere close to its capacity it ends up pulling your belt down so far it loosens your LBE suspenders and puts uncomfortable pressure on your abdomen. There is no way to balance the capacity of this thing, even if you only fill it half full. The zipper pocket design is excellent, but it's just too big and needs some small D-rings relocated to the top of the pack. Used it for 2 long days of hiking in colorado mountains. Very uncomfortable! You'd be better off with a small back pack over your LBE.
